Suffolk Tourist Guide

Thorndon is well placed to visit Norwich 29 miles away, with its mediaeval streets and extensive shopping, Bury St Edmunds 27 miles, an elegant Georgian Town with the attractive Abbey Gardens and Ipswich with its Historic Waterfront from which boat trips can be taken. The Suffolk Coast, about 30 miles away, has the Aldeburgh Festival and nearby the quaint seaside 'village' of Thorpeness with The House in the Clouds, a converted water tower floating over the tree line.  The beaches are clean, sandy and uncrowded and walking along them, at any time of year, will have you not far from somewhere to eat - in Aldeburgh join the queue at the famous Fish & Chip shop at the bottom of the High Street & eat them on the seawall!
